The Indigenous Youth Bursary in loving memory of Rhiannon Aird is back again for its second year. Applications are NOW OPEN!

About the Bursary

Rhiannon Aird was a Service Supervisor out of our Alderville office. She loved the arts, and she loved working with our agency and the children, youth and families we serve. Her family alongside our Service team created this bursary in her memory and continue to donate regularly to the fund in her legacy.

Who is eligible?

This bursary is for First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis Youth between the ages of 16–23 who are currently working alongside our agency and have a financial need that do not have access to other funding sources to pursue creative and traditional pathways. A few examples of eligible activities and programming:

  • On the Land Programs
  • Traditional Craft Making Lessons & Supplies
  • Musical Instruments & Lessons
  • Wellness Certifications & Retreats
  • Regalia Making Supplies & Lessons

Who can complete the application form?

Any of the following individuals can complete the application form with the youth recipient’s consent. 

  • Youth (can apply for themselves) 
  • Parents, family members or caregivers
  • Any Dnaagwenmag Binnoojiiyag staff or workers

Is there an application deadline?

Yes, applications will only be accepted until Friday, September 20.

How much is the bursary for?

Currently, there is a total of $14,600 in funding available. 

How many recipients will be awarded?

This is dependent on the number of applications and demonstrated need. Last year, we awarded five (5) young people with over $2K each.

Additional Details

Bursary recipients must agree to share updates with Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag about their creative and traditional pursuits through videos, photos, and testimonials.
